Students10 Tips for Dormitory Rooms
Make the most out of your dorm rooms with these tips for easy,
comfortable and practical dormitory life. 1. Since you have to
have minimum furniture in your dorm room, look around for items that
can do double duty or perform as complete consoles and can be used
for a variety of purposes. Browse around for catalogs and online and
offline stores to find the perfect piece. If possible, visit your
room first and see what is needed there.
2. Make the most of the
limited space by buying all-in-one gadgets such as printer,
photocopier and scanner in one. 3. Turn a small plastic basket
into a 'Shower Items Container' for carrying shower items to and fro
every day. 4. Dorm rooms have limited electrical outlets so keep a
supply of extension cords and extra power bars. 5. Maximize
storage space by using storage towers, hooks, collapsible drawers
etc. 6. Use a fold-away laundry basket for storing your laundry
and collapsing it when it is empty. 7. Carefully choose some small
appliances like toasters, mixers, kettles etc. for making your own
snacks and tea.
8. Get creative and fit in appliances you need by removing some
other thing that you don't need. For e.g. a set of drawers from the
kitchen can be removed to make space for a dishwasher. 9. Organize
your dorm life and at the same time, add color to your room by
adding a message board. 10. Give yourself a month to really find
out what you have and what you still need and also what you don't
really need. Assess your needs and make a list of really useful
things that you need. If you can, stall the purchases till the
holidays. You could get some of the stuff on your list as holiday
gifts!
